Tai Jo Kuen, The Great Emperor Form, Ying Jow Pai, eagle Claw Kung Fu

This is the opening clawing section from the first row of the form Tai Jo Kuen, from the Ying Jow Pai, Eagle Claw Kung Fu Style. These clawing combinations use the principle of 'Jow Da', grabbing and striking and 'Chin Na', joint locking and they demonstrate distinct clawing techniques with the single claw, switching claw and double claw. Note that this drill ends with yielding back to cat stance with the flower technique just to practice the flower, but the form continues forward with the row after the cut palm to arrow stance. This was put together for our students to help them practice kung fu at home.
