Offset RNP Approach into Corfu | PMDG 737 | MSFS 2024

In this video, we are arriving at Corfu International Airport (LGKR) in Greece, completing Ryanair flight FR4445 from Vilnius (EYVI) in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The flight was operated with a PMDG Boeing 737-800, registration SP-RSE. The arrival into Corfu featured an RNP approach to Runway 34 — and this one comes with an interesting detail. The published final approach track is offset by around 5° from the runway centerline, so the aircraft does not descend perfectly aligned with the runway. That means the approach initially looks slightly unusual, with the aircraft coming down at an angle to the centerline. At around 1,000 feet above the ground, we transitioned from following the RNP path to visually aligning the aircraft with Runway 34 for the final part of the approach and landing. Another consideration was Corfu’s relatively short runway. We used Flaps 40 to reduce the landing speed and, as a result, the required braking effort after touchdown. This allowed us to use Autobrake 3 instead of MAX, helping to keep brake temperatures lower. That matters especially on a short turnaround. With only around 30 minutes on the ground before the next departure, using maximum braking could leave the brakes too hot to cool sufficiently in time, potentially resulting in a delayed departure while waiting for the brake temperatures to come back down. With light winds, good visibility and only a few clouds around 2,500 feet, the weather was nearly perfect. Combined with Corfu’s coastline, surrounding terrain, the offset RNP approach and the short-runway landing, it made for a particularly scenic and interesting arrival into the island.
