3 Days Madurai Temple Tour Plan (Local Bus Guide)
Day 1: City Center Heritage & Temples
Morning: Madura Meenakshi Amman Temple — Start your journey at the heart of Madurai. Explore the breathtaking architecture, the Hall of Thousand Pillars, and the Pothamarai Kulam (Golden Lotus Tank).
Afternoon: Koodal Alagar Perumal Temple — Located just a short distance or auto ride from Meenakshi Temple, this is one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
Evening: Head to the Periyar Bus Stand and take Local Bus No. 4A or any city bus heading towards Vandiyur Mariamman Teppakulam. Capture the stunning views of Asia's largest temple tank at sunset.
Day 2: Hillside Divine Shrines (Alagar Hills & Surroundings)
Morning: Board Local Bus No. 44 or a direct town bus from the Periyar Bus Stand to Alagar Kovil, situated about 21 km away at the foot of the Alagar Hills.
Noopura Ganga Theertham: From Alagar Kovil, take local shared jeeps or mini-buses further up the hill to visit the holy Noopura Ganga waterfall and stream.
Raakkai Amma Temple: Located along the trail near Noopura Ganga, this secluded temple nestled in the forest offers wonderful nature visuals for your vlog.
Afternoon/Evening: On your way back down, stop by the revered Pazhamudircholai Murugan Temple (one of the six holy abodes of Lord Murugan - Arupadai Veedu) before heading back to the city.
Day 3: Cave Temples & Ancient Divya Desams
Morning: Catch frequent local city buses from the Periyar/Central Bus Stand to Thirupparamkundram Murugan Temple. This is the first Arupadai Veedu of Lord Murugan, carved entirely out of a massive rock face.
