The 150 Steps Up to the Sea house, designed by Matharoo Associates in Dumas, Surat, blends traditional Indian architecture with contemporary design. Inspired by ancient stepwells and the colonial-style haveli once on the site, the residence features a striking central staircase with 150 steps, connecting all spaces while offering views of the Arabian Sea. The design incorporates vaastu principles, a stone masonry base, stacked concrete tubes, and seamless indoor-outdoor transitions. The multi-generational home emphasizes natural light, cross ventilation, and a harmonious connection to the coastal landscape.
