Exploring Larose Forest: the forest that used to be a desert

Exploring the trails of Larose Forest in Eastern Ontario! This forest wasn't always here. About a hundred years ago, this land had been cleared and farmed until it turned into blowing sand dunes. Starting in the late 1920s, people began replanting it by hand, and today Larose Forest covers about 11,000 hectares, making it one of the largest planted forests in southern Ontario.
