Police escort fire engines and aerial ladder trucks responding with siren and lights during Guy Fawkes Night celebrations in Glasgow, Scotland. Bonfire Night, also known as Fireworks Night or Guy Fawkes Night (formerly Gunpowder Treason Day) is a celebration of the failed attempt on the life of King James I on November 5, 1605 and takes place annually on November 5. The event starts with Guy Fawkes, a member of the Gunpowder Plot, who was caught guarding explosives beneath the House of Lords at parliament in London. The intention was that the explosives would kill King James I and destroy part of the House of Lords. Due to the failed attempt, people lit bonfires around London; leading to the annual celebration of the 5th November. Guy Fawkes was hung, drawn and quartered as punishment for his crimes. How-ever due to the intensive use of pyrotechnics, each year the event causes many injuries, accidental and also intentional fires involving vegetation, rubbish, vehicles and buildings. As a result, this is one of the busiest nights for fire services and emergency services - as shown in this video. All fire appliances in this video are Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and all police vehicles are Police Scotland.
