In April 1982, Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands, convinced Britain would never fight back.
Instead, the British government assembled a naval task force, sailed over 8,000 miles to the South Atlantic, and launched one of the most remarkable military campaigns in modern history. Against extraordinary odds, Royal Marines, the Parachute Regiment, the Royal Navy, RAF aircrews, Gurkhas, and supporting forces fought across sea, air and land to retake the islands in just 74 days.
In this documentary, we explore the complete story of the Falklands War—from the Argentine invasion and the sinking of the General Belgrano and HMS Sheffield, to the landings at San Carlos, the battles of Goose Green, Mount Longdon, Two Sisters, Mount Harriet, Wireless Ridge and Mount Tumbledown, culminating in the surrender at Stanley.
Discover how political miscalculation, military courage and extraordinary logistical planning combined to shape one of Britain's defining post-war conflicts.
