6 NIGHTS • 7 DAYS • 75 KM • NORTH TO SOUTH What happens when a couple of huntresses who normally spend their time hunting, fishing, and playing softball together decide, “Hey… we should go for a little hike!”? Well, apparently that “little hike” turned into 75 KM of the West Coast Trail, hiking north to south over 6 nights and 7 days! We didn’t exactly train for this. (SO PLEASE TRAIN) With our packs loaded down, legs that weren’t quite prepared, and a healthy dose of determination, we headed into one of the most beautiful and challenging trails on Vancouver Island. Along the way we tackled muddy trails, ladders, beaches, rivers, waterfalls, wildlife skat the size of our heads, sore muscles, and two full days of heavy rain. Parks Canada was even offering refunds because of the weather, but we decided we were already committed, so we kept going! We camped at Michigan, Tsusiat Falls, Cribs, Walbran, Camper, and Thrasher before finally making our way to Gordon River. There were laughs, a few “What were we thinking?” moments, some tough miles, and plenty of memories that we’ll be talking about for a long time. So grab a coffee, settle in, and come along with us for our West Coast Trail adventure. 6 nights, 7 days, 75 KM, and not nearly enough training! Sometimes the best adventures start with a terrible idea. At least we now ready for hunting season and able pack out a moose with no problems!
