How I’d Build a Shrimp Colony That Pays for Itself

If I had to start a shrimp tank from scratch tomorrow, these are the five things I’d do differently. I learned most of them the hard way. I watched baby shrimp disappear, dealt with failed moults, and tried to figure out why one colony thrived while another slowly went backwards. Give them stable water, plenty of places to graze and enough time for the ecosystem to mature while trying not to interfere with them every five minutes. That last part is sometimes the hardest 😅 A profitable shrimp tank doesn’t start with selling shrimp. It starts with building a healthy colony that survives, moults and reproduces consistently. Once the colony is producing more shrimp than you want to keep, you can begin selling the excess without setting the colony backwards.
