Battle of the Bulge: How U.S. Artillery Stopped German Panthers at Elsenborn Ridge

In December 1944, as German Panther tanks and panzergrenadiers pushed through Rocherath and Krinkelt toward Elsenborn Ridge, American forces used forward observers, radios, Fire Direction Centers, and massed 105mm and 155mm artillery to break up the combined-arms assault. This video examines how concentrated artillery fire disrupted infantry support, cratered vital approach routes, damaged communications and optics, and forced armored columns into confined village streets where U.S. infantry, bazooka teams, M10 tank destroyers, and Sherman tanks could engage at close range. It also follows the fighting withdrawal of the 2nd and 99th Infantry Divisions, the defense of Dom Bütgenbach, and the role of Time on Target fire and VT proximity fuzes in holding the northern shoulder of the Battle of the Bulge.
