Sweater fuzz can make a garment look tired while hiding a more useful question: what is happening in the knit underneath? A surface pill, a pulled loop and a thin patch need different decisions. Before reaching for a shaver, stone or comb, inspect the actual garment and read both its care label and the tool's instructions. A guard is not a promise that every raised yarn is safe to remove. Sofia Romano follows those distinctions through the places a sweater rubs against coats, bags and everyday surfaces. Removing suitable pills can change appearance, but it cannot replace missing fibers or guarantee that fuzz will never return. Price, softness and a fiber name do not settle the condition of a particular sweater. The practical work starts with what you can actually observe, including the reverse of a suspicious patch. In this video: 1.Separate surface pills from pulled loops, intended texture and thin cloth. 2.Check actual garment and device directions before choosing a tool. 3.Understand why guards, combs and abrasive stones can still damage unsuitable surfaces. 4.Review contact with coats, bag straps and other sources of rubbing. 5.Follow label-led washing, drying and support rather than one rule for every knit. 6.Recognize when to stop surface treatment and ask about repair. The examples do not promise an as-new sweater, a fixed completion time or a guaranteed prevention rate. Stable pills can sometimes be accepted instead of repeatedly removing fibers. Stop if a tool catches, changes the surface or exposes a weak area. Which sweater would benefit more from a careful inspection than another automatic pass with a removal tool?
