Our first tour of the year, and our first landing on Lubang Island, Occidental Mindoro! In 1944, at the end of the Greater East Asia War, Second Lieutenant Hiroo Onoda of the Imperial Japanese Army was sent to Lubang Island in the Philippines on an intelligence gathering and espionage mission. He did not believe in the end of the war and could not receive orders to deactivate his mission, and for 29 years after the war, he was fighting a lonely battle on the island of Lubang. In 1974, he was pardoned by President Marcos and returned safely from Lubang Island. This time, we have been exploring the Onoda Trail and Cave to follow in the footsteps of Second Lieutenant Onoda Hiroo. Near the place where Second Lt. Onoda's comrade-in-arms, Kinshichi Kozuka, died, there is a monument to the friendship between the Philippines and Japan, and we went to prayed for the islanders who were killed by them. Twitter https://twitter.com/yoshi_butobuto?t=...
