The Dolomites. A scenic hike at the foot of the Odle Peaks, Val Gardena

A superb hike in Val Gardena in the Dolomites with stunning views all the way. We take the Col Raiser Cable Car from Santa Cristina. From the cable car station we follow path number 4 to Rifugio Ferenze and then onto path 13. The views of the surrounding peaks on this section are stunning. Path 13 climbs steadily and is a good path all the way. We then take path 2b which goes right at the foot of the Odle Peaks. These peaks tower above and it is clear how they got their name. ( Odle translates to needles in Ladin) We then arrive at the very distinctive rock formation at Pieralongia. This 60ft high limestone rock formation is a spectacular sight. We continue on path 2b passing below Seceda. We then head to the mountain Hut Daniel and follow path 1A then path 2 back to Col Raiser Cable Car. A superb walk avoiding the crowds.
