ONCE SAVED, FOREVER SAVED? — Abel Damina Explains the New Birth

Can a born-again Christian lose salvation? Dr. Abel Damina explains why he believes salvation is a birth that cannot simply be reversed — and why he teaches “once saved, forever saved.” In this teaching from 30 Days of Glory 2026, Abel Damina examines one of Christianity’s most debated questions: can a believer receive eternal life and later lose it? Using the new birth, human will, John 3, 1 Peter 1:23 and the believer’s identity in Christ, Dr. Damina argues that salvation must first be understood as a birth. He addresses questions such as: • Can a Christian lose salvation? • What does “once saved, forever saved” actually mean? • Can human free will reverse the new birth? • What does it mean to be born of God? • What is the significance of the incorruptible seed? • Can sinful conduct cancel a believer’s sonship? • What is the difference between salvation and spiritual growth? • Why does Jesus describe salvation as being “born again”? • Who is responsible for keeping the believer saved? Abel Damina’s central argument is that salvation is not an object that a Christian simply misplaces or loses. He teaches that the believer has been born of God and must therefore distinguish issues of salvation from issues of conduct and spiritual growth.
