What a Master of Landscapes! Artist reacts to Ivan Shishkin

Watch the original video by Photo Tom here:    • 9 Forest and Landscape Photography Tips I ...   As an effort to better my understanding of art and history's greatest artists, I am taking to YouTube and watching informative videos and lessons on art and its history. Ivan Shishkin was an incredible painter of oil landscapes from the 19th Century. He was a Russian artist who spent his time creating intricate portrayals of forests and other scenery. I want to learn more about his work, as well as anything I can glean from his techniques or his eye for creating compelling visuals. What you see is my honest reaction to the video presented. It is not meant to be a critique of another creator's work. It is meant to be a lesson for myself, as I try to learn more about great art. I have been painting for almost two decades, focusing on a variety of subjects - most prominently landscapes. I am also an art instructor at Seattle Pacific University.
