I had never tried anything like this before! In this video, I take two plain concrete posts in our kitchen and try to transform them into glossy marble-effect pillars using concrete pipes, paint and a bit of DIY experimentation.
Of course, things didn't quite go according to plan. While installing the very first pipe, part of it broke off and hit my newly tiled kitchen floor! Luckily, the tiles survived, but it was just one of several challenges along the way.
Since retiring here in rural Thailand, DIY projects like this have become an important part of my everyday life. They keep me active, give me something to focus on and, most importantly, I'm always learning something new. I'm certainly no professional — most of the time I'm figuring things out as I go!
In the video, I'll show you the whole process, from cutting and fitting the concrete pipes to creating the marble effect and finally adding the glossy finish.
Was all the work worth it? Let me know what you think of the finished pillars in the comments.
Thanks for watching and following my retired life and DIY projects here in rural Thailand.
