On 5 April 1945, an SS firing squad executed Karl Otto Koch at Buchenwald, the camp he once commanded. He was not punished for the prisoners who suffered and died under him. He was executed for theft and for ordering the murder of witnesses. This is his documented story, from a clerk in Darmstadt to the SS court that condemned him. Everything here is drawn from historical records and historians. Where evidence is uncertain, the video says so. ⏱ CHAPTERS 0:00 The Execution Paradox 1:15 The Rise of the Camp System 2:20 Early Life of Karl Otto Koch 4:00 Ilse and Sachsenhausen 5:00 Buchenwald Opens 6:20 Terror in the Camp 7:40 The Villa, the Zoo and the Riding Hall 9:30 Krämer and the Secret 11:00 Majdanek 12:20 The SS Investigation 14:00 Trial and Execution 15:40 What Happened to the Koch Family Next video:    • Hitler’s Biggest Mistake: The Hidden Reaso...   Subscribe:    / @thechronology-k6y   📚 SOURCES Buchenwald Memorial (buchenwald.de) United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (ushmm.org) Yad Vashem (yadvashem.org) ⚠️ This channel covers history for educational purposes.
