Orienteering on Bornholm, Slotslyngen - Höst Open 2024

In this video you can follow an orienteer around a 5 km course in Slotslyngen - one of the most beautiful and difficult terrains in Denmark. Starting point at the iconic "Hammershus" ruin on Bornholm in the middle of the Baltic Sea. The terrain - Slotslyngen ("Castleheath") is impressive with steep cliffs, large boulders and a mixture of open forrest and very dense vegetation. In many places it's difficult to read the landscape as hills and vegetation borders are very diffuse. Among orienteers Slotslyngen is considered a top-three terrain because of it's beauty and difficulty. MAJOR MISTAKES 3:51: Right after control 1: I'm afraid of missing the path, and waste minutes crawling around in a small stream. Fairly stupid mistake. 17:30: Right after control 3: I mistake the two paths and run 90 degrees in the wrong direction. Six minutes late - around 23:30 I recognize a path from four years ago, and I'm back on track.
