What happens when the body you’ve always known suddenly doesn’t feel like yours anymore? When strength turns into exhaustion. When movement that used to feel normal becomes something you’re grateful just to be able to do. When you look in the mirror and don’t fully recognize the person looking back at you. This episode is really special to us. We’re sitting down with our dear friend Lana, who has spent the last few years fighting aggressive acute myeloid leukemia, to talk about what it looks like to keep loving your body when it changes, to keep choosing life when life feels wildly unfair, and to start again without hating yourself for not being where you used to be. And somehow, through all of it, Lana still has one of the biggest loves for life of anyone we know. In today’s episode, we’re talking about: • Learning to see movement as a privilege instead of a punishment • Losing strength, starting again, and being patient with the body you have today • How to navigate comparison when your path looks completely different from everyone else’s • Treating taking care of yourself as an act of service to your future self • Finding gratitude, hope, and growth even when life feels wildly outside of your control There are a lot of Lana golden nuggets in this one. “Feelings come to go.” “I have one body that has to last me a lifetime.” And maybe our favorite: you might not get to control what happens in your life, but you do get to choose how you respond to it. This conversation is about cancer, but it’s also about so much more than cancer. It’s about looking in the mirror when you don’t recognize yourself. Starting over when your body can’t do what it used to. Letting yourself have hard days without deciding that they’re permanent. And remembering that your health, your movement, and this one life you get to live are worth appreciating now—not someday. Lana, thank you for trusting us with your story. We love you endlessly. 💗 And girlies, wherever you are in your own journey: be patient with yourself, show your body some love, and keep growing. Love you, girlies!!
