I Thought Indian Dance Was Mostly Bollywood… Then I Tried These 3 🇮🇳

When I used to think of Indian dance, Bollywood was the first thing that came to mind. This episode definitely changed that. 🇮🇳 In Episode 5 of How the World Dances, I’m looking at three very different Indian dance traditions: Bharatanatyam — Tamil Nadu Bhangra — Punjab Garba — Gujarat What I enjoyed most about this episode was seeing how different each one feels. Bharatanatyam made me pay attention to expression and storytelling, Bhangra brought a completely different kind of energy, and Garba showed me how much community and tradition can shape the way a dance feels. And of course… I had to try some of the movement myself 😂 If you’re from India, tell me: What dance did you grow up seeing where you’re from? And what state are you watching from? 🇮🇳👇🏾 🌍 How the World Dances — Episode 05: India Subscribe as we keep travelling through dance, one country at a time.
