Case Study - Surprise Tornado near Satanta, KS - July 1, 2020

On July 1, 2020, a surprise tornado occurred in Southwest Kansas near the town of Satanta. Severe weather was not expected, and models showed little in the way of convection, let alone severe convection, across the area. In this video, I try to deconstruct the overall weather pattern and detect any features that may have aided in tornadic supercell formation across Southwest Kansas. For educational purposes only.
