In Part 3 of the traditional oak greenhouse build, I begin the heavy timber framing by cutting mortises and king post joints. After battling a few stubborn mistakes and realising mid-air assembly is too dangerous, I pivot to safely building the frame on the ground. Using traditional draw pegs to secure the 150kg structure, I set up a chain hoist and a web of ratchet straps for a heavy manual lift. Watch as I finally raise the first massive A-frame bent onto the stone foundation.
The first frame is up! Next week, I'm tackling the rest of this heavy oak entirely solo. Make sure to catch up on Episode 1 ( • Building a Traditional Green Oak Greenhous... ) if you missed how this started!
