It's NOVEMBER in New York, but you would never know it by looking at my tropical garden! 🌴☀️ While the banana trees are still looking spectacular and the weather feels more like summer, I'm surrounded by palm trees, construction materials, and an enormous amount of work before winter arrives!
Welcome back to New York Tropical Garden, where growing a tropical paradise in New York's Hudson Valley (Zone 6B) means doing things a little differently!
This week, I'm tackling some of my biggest winter protection challenges yet. My Chilean Wine Palm Hybrid has outgrown its winter home, I'm building and modifying massive palm protection structures, and I still have FIVE palm trees completely unprotected in November!
We'll also take a look at how I protect my palms using Christmas lights, discover some unexpected late-season figs, encounter a little poison ivy, and enjoy the last beautiful days around the swimming pool before the colder weather arrives.
And somewhere between climbing ladders, wrestling with foam boards, and trying to finish everything before winter, I'm beginning to wonder whether my garden has gotten completely out of control! 😂
If you love palm trees, tropical gardening, unusual gardens, or just watching someone attempt the impossible in a New York climate, you're in the right place.
Subscribe and join me every Saturday for another adventure in my New York tropical paradise. Beautiful plants, gardening challenges, a little humor, and plenty of unexpected surprises!
🌴 I'd love to hear from you: Are you still enjoying warm weather in November, or has winter already arrived in your garden?
Thanks for watching and being part of this crazy tropical adventure!
