American Tobacco Trail (NC)

The trail extends 22 miles from the New Hill trail head in Apex to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The American Tobacco Trail was part of an old Norfolk Southern Line that was used to bring tobacco from the Carolinas to the American Tobacco Factory in Durham. In 1987 the Durham factory closed, setting the stage for the development of this beautiful, well maintained rail trail.
