THE HISTORY OF THE TANGO PIAZZOLLA MARC GRAUWELS CHRISTOPHE DELPORTE

The HABANERA Duo was born after an encounter between Marc GRAUWELS (flutist) and Christophe DELPORTE (accordionist) but above all because of their common passion for the Argentine tango and the music of Astor Piazzolla. Today, Marc GRAUWELS, a Belgian flutist of international renown, has joined Chirstophe Delporte and the ASTORIA Ensemble specialized in the interpretation of Astor Piazzolla's music in order to record The History of the Tango. This work is dedicated to Marc Grauwels. This recording has given a new life to the work orchestrated by Christophe Delporte. It is completely original for the accordion, violin, cello, piano, percussion section and clearly for the flute of Marc Grauwels. It is by associating the tonality of their instruments that these two artists had the idea of creating the HABANERA Duo and to propose to the public an eclectic, refined and audacious repertoire. Recognized by the press, Marc GRAUWELS and Christophe DELPORTE are invited to important festivals and perform on both the national and the international scene. The musical snobbism of pseudo music lovers who confuse concert and staging with their ego, have always been pleased to consider the accordion as a second class instrument under the obsequious pretext that it is a vulgar instrument par excellence. These two artist sweep away with a grand jest all the vulgarities associated with this formidable musical instrument. The ability of the accordion to be able to hold the note allows it to intervene as a continuous bass as much as a cello, a double bass or an organ to which it is strongly related because it is also a wind instrument. The virtuosity of the instrument confers on it the surprising faculty of sounding, all by itself, like an entire orchestra.
