An unexpected sound, broken edge, interrupted power supply or incorrect movement can leave a CNC process in a state that the original plan no longer describes. Stopping motion addresses the immediate situation, but it does not establish how to continue. This national-standard supplement examines interruption, state reconstruction, recovery routes and controlled restart. We will use original geometry studies, the named Haas Next Generation Control manuals and the installed classroom simulator. The examples explain decisions and limitations. The actual equipment, cause of interruption and authorized task procedure determine the physical recovery sequence. Explore this module, with moving diagrams, a worked example, a pause-and-try exercise and a clear explanation of the answer. For Machinist learners. Trace the mechanism and pause to practise. 📘 WHAT YOU WILL LEARN • Distinguish interruption urgency and the documented scope of operating controls from required intervention energy control. • Reconstruct program, reference, tool, datum and execution state after interruption. • Evaluate original recovery geometry and the named control limits before selecting a restart route and point. • Apply machine-specific prove-out, affected-part inspection and controlled change records to a restart. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 A stopped program is the beginning of a recovery decision 0:49 Recognize urgency and select the appropriate stop response 1:34 Feed hold has a documented scope rather than a universal effect 2:16 Emergency stop and Reset answer different questions 3:03 Physical intervention requires its own control of hazardous energy 3:51 Capture enough information to reconstruct the interrupted state 4:37 Determine what remains physically true after the interruption 5:22 Worked distance study: the target and frame must be known 6:06 A restart block needs the modal context on which it depends 6:50 Temporary execution state is control-specific 7:35 Named mill jog-return behavior differs from a manual retrace 8:19 The named lathe manual specifies a different return order 9:06 Clear endpoints do not prove that the route between them is clear 9:48 Evaluate the full assembly rather than only a tool point 10:32 Changed tools and offsets can invalidate a stored return 11:15 Worked length study: a longer replacement lowers the actual tip 11:59 Program restart scanning has a bounded role 12:42 Broken-tool recovery includes material and damage assessment 13:25 Lathe recovery must preserve diameter and radius distinctions 14:10 Cycles and special operations can need specialized recovery 14:58 Use the installed O03202 fixture to observe a bounded pause 15:42 The classroom Reset is deliberately different from physical recovery 16:27 Verify the restart progressively under the actual machine procedure 17:13 Practice: reconstruct a distance and a changed tool relationship 18:05 Answer: the arithmetic reveals a changed setup, not permission to move 18:49 Document changes and retain the correct program revision 19:34 Controlled restart depends on verified state and a verified route 💡 HOW TO STUDY Watch the mechanism. Explain the example aloud. Pause for practice. Recall the answers tomorrow. ➡️ NEXT MODULE: RSOS F-15.04 📚 SOURCES AND SCOPE Source: mapped Machinist curriculum RSOS H-20.03, H-20.04, H-19.05, H-18.04, PDF pages 156–169. Original narration, examples and diagrams. Source versions and supplementary references are recorded in the curriculum map and notes. National supplemental coverage only. Original diagrams, assigned arithmetic and bounded installed-model exercise. No universal button sequence, physical machine recovery, independent pixels or encoded media accepted here. This series maps the stated curriculum and identifies supplementary teaching.
