Completing breast cancer treatment or prophylactic surgery is often expected to bring a sense of relief. Yet, for many survivors and previvors, the emotional challenges can continue long after the immediate experience is over. After months of appointments, difficult decisions, and navigating uncertainty, returning to everyday life can bring unexpected emotions, challenges, and pressure to simply get “back to normal.” In this educational webinar, Laura Schneebaum, licensed psychotherapist, leads a trauma-informed conversation about the emotional impact of breast cancer survivorship and navigating cancer risk. She explores what it means to move out of survival mode, process difficult experiences, and adjust to changes in our bodies, relationships, routines, and identities. Laura also shares practical strategies to support mental well-being, build meaningful connections, navigate complicated emotions, and manage advocacy fatigue. . Well Beyond Breast Cancer (WBBC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization working to close one of the most overlooked gaps in breast cancer care: access to Breast Cancer Rehabilitation. For many individuals, side effects such as pain, fatigue, mobility loss, and neuropathy can persist long after treatment, making it difficult to lift a child, reach overhead, sleep through the night, or return to the roles and activities that give life meaning. The hopeful truth: Breast Cancer Rehabilitation, a specialized field of physical and occupational therapy, can reduce suffering, minimize side effects, and help people return to the moments that matter most. Yet only 2–9% of breast cancer survivors ever receive this rehabilitative care. WBBC expands equitable access to Breast Cancer Rehabilitation through a Financial Assistance Program, educational initiatives, and advocacy efforts, so more people can receive the specialized care they need to live well during, after, and beyond breast cancer.
