This famous Qinqiang aria comes from the Broken Bridge scene, where Bai Suzhen — the White Snake — returns to the lake she once knew. The water hasn't changed. The bridge hasn't changed. But she has been imprisoned under Leifeng Pagoda, and her world is no longer the same. Sung by Hui Minli, the aria carries all of Bai Suzhen's longing and sorrow.
