Can you make a gel print image transfer using regular printer paper instead of glossy brochure paper? That's exactly what I set out to discover—although, admittedly, not entirely on purpose! I accidentally printed my image onto ordinary copy paper instead of the glossy brochure paper I typically use for inkjet image transfers. Rather than throw it away and start over, I decided to experiment with a wax pencil (China marker), a crayon, and my gel printing plate to see whether I could create an image transfer using a wax-resist technique. Sometimes the most interesting art experiments begin with a mistake! In this video, I explore an unconventional approach to gel printing, combining wax resist with image-transfer techniques to create a distressed, vintage-looking portrait. And, as you'll see, the finished artwork develops a personality all its own. If you enjoy gel printing, mixed-media art, image transfers, or experimenting with unexpected materials, come along and see what happens when things don't go quite according to plan! ⏱️ VIDEO CHAPTERS [INSERT FINAL TIMESTAMPED CHAPTERS HERE] 🎨 MATERIALS & SUPPLIES Here are the primary materials and tools used in this experiment.
