*MATTHEW 22 | THE GREATEST COMMANDMENT & THE WEDDING FEAST*
Welcome to *The Gospel Study* — an 89-day journey through the four Gospels to discover the life, teachings, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, one chapter at a time.
In Matthew 22, Jesus continues teaching in Jerusalem through powerful parables and answers challenging questions from the religious leaders who seek to trap Him with His own words.
Through the parable of the wedding feast, Jesus reveals the invitation to God’s kingdom and the seriousness of responding to it. When questioned about paying taxes to Caesar, He responds with wisdom that silences His opponents. He also addresses the Sadducees’ question about the resurrection and explains the greatest commandment in the Law.
But the chapter ends with a question of its own: *Who is the Christ, and what does it truly mean to recognize Him?*
📖 *IN THIS BIBLE STUDY, WE EXPLORE:*
*The Parable of the Wedding Feast (Matthew 22:1–14):* The invitation to God’s kingdom and the importance of responding to it.
*Paying Taxes to Caesar (Matthew 22:15–22):* Jesus’ wisdom in answering a question designed to trap Him.
*The Resurrection (Matthew 22:23–33):* Jesus corrects the Sadducees’ misunderstanding of Scripture and the power of God.
*The Greatest Commandment (Matthew 22:34–40):* Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.
*Whose Son Is the Christ? (Matthew 22:41–46):* Jesus challenges the religious leaders to think more deeply about the identity of the Messiah.
✨ *KEY VERSE — MATTHEW 22:37–39 (KJV)*
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
