The Mascot Controversy | Coach

Following the opening title sequence, Hayden, Luther, and Dauber are eating lunch in the office. Mrs. Thorkelson warns Hayden that the band director is on the phone. Riley Pringle, the band director, enters the office in a huff to report that the school's mascot, the 'Screaming Eagle', has quit because the football players have been physically assaulting him during games. Pringle demands a replacement before the next game. Craig T. Nelson won an Emmy for his hilarious portrayal of a University football coach struggling to keep his outrageous personal life under control. Comedy legend Jerry Van Dyke shines as his sometimes dim - but always hysterical - assistant coach. Classic comedy doesn't get any better than this!
