[Deltarune Remix] Stormheart - Black Knife (Roaring Knight)

Ah, yes, the Roaring Knight: the answer to the question "What does it feel like to be on the receiving end of PK Starstorm in EarthBound?" [On the Roaring Knight fight]: ⚔️ It was so surreal to encounter the Knight at the end of Chapter 3! I was honestly expecting to meet them much, much later. The fight wasn't too troubling once I went through the ordeal of getting the shadow mantle and found my groove (it wasn't EASY, but I wouldn't say it was more difficult than either Sans or Undyne the Undying), but it was extremely fun! I was freaking out the minute I noticed the Knight's final attack was modeled almost exactly after EarthBound's PK Starstorm attack (and obviously Hyperdeath Asriel's final attack as well). EarthBound is one of my favorite games of all time and also a major inspiration for Toby, so it's always a joy when he references it. [On the remix]: 🎵 Primarily, when working on this remix, I wanted it to feel like it was telling a story (Dess' story specifically), which meant writing out various different sections that go in different directions, which became...very tedious at times LOL. It was important to me that I included snippets of both His Theme and Lost Girl into the remix to act almost like fragments of the old Dess fighting to get through (I'm not really sure it came across that way, but whatever lmao). While I won't pretend every single synth, instrument, or miscellaneous creative choice has a specific purpose relating to conveying parts of Dess'/The Knight's character (as we understand it so far, at least), I put quite a lot of thought into a lot of it. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what different sections or sounds might be trying to convey! [Stormheart lore]: 🌌 Finally, I know I'm a bit (EXTREMELY) late on releasing Delatrune content. There have been a lot of reasons for that, from being decently busy this summer to struggling with a lot of personal things to it also just taking a long ass time for me to work on and become happy with a track lmfao (my OCD definitely also does not streamline my workflow in that regard, to put it very mildly). This track in particular was a struggle. After listening to a lot of other remixes of Black Knife, I realized a lot of people remixed the part I did at 1:41 very differently than I had, and in ways that I liked a lot more and thought general listeners would also like much more. I contemplated redoing the entire section from scratch but realized that it would likely ruin my initial vision for what my remix would sound like as well as the whole "story" element. That insecurity eventually just kind of expanded to cover the entire remix, and I became really frustrated because the composition (as well as more technical stuff like mixing and mastering) just didn't sound like everyone else's. And especially with how proud I was of my last two tracks, I was worried that this one would be a step-down from those after more than 4 months of waiting. It took a while to get to the point where I just accepted that it was MY remix and therefore it was just going to sound different and that was just how it was going to be. In total this was about a 17-hour track, which is on the longer end for me, and I really hope you all enjoy it!
