EP 1 | THE FIRST 400 KM. | Bhogaon to Haridwar

When a journey begins in the quiet, narrow lanes of Bhogaon, you don't really grasp the weight of the destination. We were bound for Gomukh—the raw, frozen origin of the Ganges... Exactly one year later, our old crew (Rishi, Atul, Dole, Satyapushp, and myself) was ready to return to the cold embrace of the mountains. But this time, the back seats held two new faces—Harsh and Happy. Armed with nothing but our packed bags and a fifty-rupee note slipped into my hand by my grandmother for blessings, we hit the highway at 10:00 PM. The road, however, had its own plans. A massive midnight thunderstorm, blinding rain, flashes of lightning illuminating the car, and the biting cold that led us to a leaking tin-roof dhaba for a hot cup of kulhad chai... this single night bound the seven of us into a single pack. And as dawn finally broke, the mists parted to reveal the roaring, golden waters of Mother Ganga at Haridwar.
