Intro: An all new series with this one. I know, Los Santos is the big shot of all cities, but to get used to walking along distinct blocks in a logical way (and getting to see almost everything in and around them), I chosed Paleto Bay as a walking ground, before I do the same with a neighborhood in LS. _ Paleto Bay - Part 01 In this initial part, I walk as Michael from the Paleto Market Parking lot to the Sheriffs Station across the street (it's situated at the Great Ocean Highway to the south and at Paleto Boulevard to the east). The inside of the Station isn't really remarkable, except for their outdated computer hardware and a TV on top of a filing cabinet, that seems to be straight from the mid 80's. Back across the street at the Paleto Market, I walk along the Great Ocean Highway up to Ammunation (that I check out for a moment; Ron Jakowski blurting his paranoia out of a radio and into the background). It is one of the more memorable Ammunation shops, because it is built like an infantry barracks (with crates at the side of the building that have tags with "explosive" written on them - interesting). Moving on from there down to a parking lot that might have been a part of the shops along Duluoz Avenue, but now seems to be unaffiliated to any of them (it's not a public parking lot as it seems). At Duoloz Avenue, there are a number of shops, which are closed shut ("bankrupt" and "bank owned" signs are plastered all over the frontal windows; small business economy seems to be in the gutter in Paleto Bay - which probably hurts a small town like this pretty hard). Even the Tattoo shop was closed for some reason (but still in business), so I could not enter it. Moving on and back around Paleto Boulevard, I pass by a (closed) Bakery, an Attire outlet shop and then towards a Baptist Church. Neighboring the church is a fire station (which I later will climb on top of). A damn dog is constantly barking across the street - I was tempted, but I did not harm the annoying critter. Anyway, I end my walk around the block by walking back to the market; having a look at the last building on my route (a Liquor Store) in the process. - In Part 02, I will continue walking along the Great Ocean Highway towards "Helmut's European Cars"; looking at all the other businesses as well. - Oddities: Only one oddity in here: There was a woman walking up the alley between the Tattoo shop and the Baptist Church (no sideways crossing to get away in an instant). I just looked away for a second and when I looked down the alley again, she was gone! Gone! That must be an error in the Matrix or somehting ;) Timestamp of this incident: 12:50 Series Notes: I don't know how many parts the Paleto Bay Series will have in the end, but I assume that it will be at least 10 parts. I include the Lodge and the Cable Car in this series, because both are situated near the Paleto Cove and Paleto Forest, respectively. Also, I will include the tracking paths and the farming grounds, plus barn (that is all part of Paleto Bay, as it is evident by looking at the posters that advertise the coming "Poultry Pageant", with the "leggiest bird", the "best cock" and the "best head" in town - you surely see what Rockstar is implying here). I will omit the Lumber Yard - technically it is still in the Paleto Forest, but it's interesting enough as a venue to explore it in an extra video (honestly: I don't believe it to be part of Paleto Bay - it's bordering it, but isn't really a part of this small coastal town). Framerate: Unfortunately, I forgot to set my capturing software to at least 30 frames per second; it is at 24 fps (because of a prior project that required this specific framerate); only realized it when the video already was patched together. So, the video might be a bit choppy at times, because the 60 fps of the game and the 24 fps of the capturing software are basicly in conflict with each other, but it's subtle and not really a problem. Sampling Also, I have set the antialiasing only to 2 probes - 4 and especially 8 are making the edges incresingly blurry and screw up the anisotropic sampling in the process (I don't know why; it should not 'bleed out' that much onto the textures - actually it shouldn't affect the textures at all). It's not a performance issue, it just looks bad (I rather accept some jaggy edges in the back than an overall blurry sampling). I never use FXAA - it's fast but it's even worse than the standard antialiasing.
