We had a few days of proper Sea State 0 out of Plymouth and I hadn't managed to get out and enjoy it properly - when I finally could the wind was increasing to 15 KTS NE - but not until 9AM....
So I was up at the crack of dawn, launched the boat and headed straight out, stunning sunrise and as soon as I stopped the boat I could see thousands of bass from the surface, plus a few sleepy seals on the rocks.
I wasn't disappointed when I jumped in, the bass encircled me on on every dive, I managed to find the black bream underneath (no couches though...) and two seals came to investigate me.
I think it's fascinating and you'll see in the video the way the bass follow the seals, and I'm sure its for the same reason they surround a snorkeler, when they drop down through the water column - to keep an eye on the predator!
