Today, we reflect on friendship with Jesus. When Jesus called St. Matthew to follow Him, Matthew left his former life behind and began a new life of companionship with Christ. He listened to Jesus, learned from His teachings, witnessed His miracles and shared in His mission. His friendship with Christ completely transformed his heart and gave his life a new purpose. As we pray today, let us ask for the grace to grow closer to Jesus through prayer, Scripture, the Sacraments and loving service to others. May we speak honestly with Him, listen for His voice and trust Him as our closest and most faithful friend. Through the intercession of St. Matthew, may our friendship with Jesus grow stronger each day.
