The Bengaluru–Chennai Expressway (NE-7) is a significant infrastructure project aimed at enhancing connectivity between Bengaluru and Chennai. Spanning approximately 258 km, this four-lane (expandable to eight) access-controlled expressway is designed to reduce travel time between the two cities from 7–8 hours to just 2–3 hours. Key Features: Route: The expressway connects Hoskote in Karnataka to Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu, passing through Andhra Pradesh. Speed Limit: Designed for speeds up to 120 km/h. Construction Phases: Divided into three phases with 10 construction packages, managed by various contractors. Current Status: As of December 2024, the Karnataka stretch is operational. The remaining sections are expected to be completed by August 2025. Economic Impact: The expressway is anticipated to boost economic activities along its corridor, attracting investments in industrial and real estate sectors. Notably, Tata Motors plans to establish a manufacturing plant in the Ranipet SIPCOT Estate by 2026–27.
