Why do we feel pulled back toward someone who hurt us, even when nothing has truly changed?
Nearly three years after my relationship ended, my ex called, apologized, and asked whether we could try again. The apology helped me release some pain, but it also forced me to recognize that forgiveness and reconciliation are two different decisions.
In this video, I explore what relationship research says about returning to former partners and share the Evidence Before Emotion Test:
1. What genuinely changed?
2. What actions prove it?
3. How long has the change lasted?
Missing someone is evidence of attachment. It is not evidence that the relationship has changed.
