Two Snipers Guard Mysterious Pit Full of Monsters | Movie Recap

In The Gorge (2025), elite contract killer Drasa and former US Army sniper Levi are recruited by Lady Barto for a mysterious one-year assignment. They're stationed at opposite watchtowers—Drasa at the East Tower (Russia) and Levi at the West Tower (US)—guarding the God Pit, an extremely deep gorge. Their job: prevent creatures called Hollowmen from escaping. JD, Levi's predecessor, explains the rules but is killed by soldiers after completing his duty—revealing no one survives. Despite rules forbidding contact, Drasa and Levi communicate via whiteboards on her birthday, forming a bond. When thousands of Hollowmen attack, they work together to fight them off. Levi crosses a rope to visit Drasa on Valentine's Day (when her cancer-ridden father planned suicide). They fall in love, but while returning, the rope breaks and Levi falls into the pit. Drasa jumps after him with a parachute. Inside the pit, they discover the truth: in 1940, 10,400 US soldiers were sent down and never returned—transformed into Hollowmen by leaked chemical weapons. Lady Barto's Dark Lake company has been using infected samples to create super soldiers, killing guards yearly to hide the secret. Levi and Drasa escape, activate a massive missile destroying the pit, and Barto dies in the explosion. Levi is caught in the blast but survives. Months later, they reunite at a French hotel where Drasa works as a waitress.
