Can you deliberately overwork to buy a slower life? This 30-day experiment explores the reality of managing a creative process and chronic illness whilst 'burning hot' in order to earn a season of rest.
Is it ever worth it to deliberately push yourself beyond your capacity - knowing you might make yourself ill - just to buy an easier life later?
This month, I ran a pretty extreme experiment on myself. With a three-week summer vacation on the horizon, I decided to push myself to film as many videos as humanly possible. I wanted to build a stupidly long runway of content so I could afford to be ill or work on other projects without the constant pressure of a schedule.
But as an artist living with chronic illness, pushing that hard is always a gamble. This vlog follows the month-long push: from high-intensity filming and studio chaos to the quiet moments in Copenhagen and, of course, plenty of antics from the pudding cats.
In the end, I had to face the reality of my experiment and ask: did I actually buy myself a slower season, or did I just create a bill I couldn't afford to pay?

🌷 ABOUT ZUZU 🌷
Zuzu (aka Elinor Trier) is a neuroqueer AuDHD artist, writer, podcaster, YouTuber, dopamine dealer, and founder of *Zuzu’s Haus of Cats*, where she creates artwork that celebrates ‘otherness’, reminding you that you're not the 'odd one out', you're 'one of a kind’. Her weekly newsletter is the stuff of legend and has been described as 'a safe space to be exactly who you are'.
Her artwork is in private collections worldwide, and her ideas have been featured in multiple media outlets, including the Nautilus Silver Award-winning book Creatrix: She Who Makes.
She reads ten books a week (the only hint of savant-ism her autism has given her), snorts when she laughs (it’s adorable!), and might actually be a pile of cats in a sparkly trench coat.
