YOKOHAMA 1987.
A forgotten pencil changes what two friends notice, told in ten original Japanese city pop songs.
✏️ Tonight's story: A 27-year-old woman arrives near Yamashita Park to sketch with a friend and discovers that her own materials are still at home. Her friend offers to divide a sheet of paper. She declines; the sheet stays whole, and she borrows no tools. Along the harbor she tries to remember shapes in words. In a fictional cafe, the friend's own first-person song admits how quickly her pencil can run ahead when they draw together.
Outside, rain has stopped while they were indoors. They look at a reflection from different angles. At a fictional art shop, the owner finds a short test pencil. The visitor does not draw with it or buy it; she remembers the shapes of the shavings instead. Her friend buys a separate, longer pencil. Back at the friend's home, a drawn sheet and a pair of empty hands share the same table.
With permission, the visitor prepares a late meal while her friend puts her own paper away. She stays the night by invitation and returns home the next morning. At her own desk, with her own materials, she draws the light by the window rather than the harbor.
🎧 Ten original songs, female vocals, played twice for about 81 minutes. Made for late-night drives.
A note on this scene: this is a fictional evening in Yokohama in 1987. The visitor's materials remain at home; her friend's paper and pencil stay with their owner. The shop's short test pencil is returned, and the friend buys a separate long pencil. The visitor neither draws nor buys a pencil that evening. Overnight permission and the return trip precede the morning at her own desk. Modern harbor landmarks and exact travel times are not represented.
