Tiller’s Folly – First Love in Life (2016)

Recorded live in concert at Blue Frog Studios in White Rock, British Columbia They say that Ireland is the ‘land of happy wars and sad love songs.’ This traditional Irish ballad is an obvious exception. Tiller’s Folly kicks this one up a notch (or two) from other versions you might have heard. What starts out as a simple song of diversion takes a more philosophical turn in the second verse: “I knew a man who had plenty of gold And I knew another with twenty times more Now they’re flat on their backs amid nettles and stones So my first love is whiskey and whisky alone”
