This sacred Rasik Pad (Pad 28) from Kelimal was composed by the great Vrindavan saint Swami Shri Haridas Ji in the 16th century.
In this pad, Kunjbihari (Krishna) sits absorbed in meditation upon Shyama (Radha). As he does not experience the joy of her presence, the pain of viraha (divine separation) grows heavier in his heart.
Seeing this deep longing, Radha suddenly manifests, filling Krishna’s heart with immense joy. Overwhelmed with love, Kunjbihari lovingly praises Shyama, expressing the sweetness of their divine union.
This pad belongs to the Rasik Bhakti tradition of Vrindavan, where saints meditate on the intimate Nikunj Lilas of Radha and Krishna.
Swami Haridas Ji, the composer of Kelimal, is revered as one of the great rasik saints of Vrindavan. According to tradition, through his devotion Radha–Shyam manifested in Nidhivan as Kunjbihari (Banke Bihari).
This is inspired from Premanand Maharaj listening to this beautiful pad, reflecting the living tradition of Vrindavan Rasik Bhakti that continues even today.
May this ancient pad awaken devotion and remembrance of Radha–Shyam in the heart.
