Snowed In at the Copper Dormouse | A Cosy Edwardian Sleep Story for Grown-Ups

Snowed In at the Copper Dormouse is a cosy sleep story for grown ups, set in a village inn on a snowy winter night. Dorothea Bellweather has shut the Copper Dormouse for the week to paint the winter orchard at last, when the stranded passengers from the snowbound sleeper train come up the lane to her door: Mr Tallowick the attendant, the Thistleby sisters and Mr Quill, a travelling piano tuner. Settle in for a slow, gentle bedtime story for adults as the dust sheets come off, the fires are lit, the old parlour piano is tuned note by note, and one by one everyone goes up to bed. An original Candlewick Tales story, told in soft British narration over gently moving storybook illustrations. It is an Edwardian sleep story about a snowy inn in Little Tallowmere, near Brindlecombe, and an innkeeper who cannot let a guest lift a spoon until, for once, she hands over the apron and sits down at her easel. A cosy winter sleep story of about 85 minutes, narration only over a faint winter air, with no music. It ends with the whole house asleep and Dorothea in her room above the orchard. Make yourself comfortable. There's no need to stay awake for the ending. 0:00 Dust sheets and the first snow 5:17 Four at the door 14:30 Sheets off 22:31 The last room 29:45 The parlour piano 38:40 The easel in the corner 45:15 The arrangement 53:12 Supper by the fire 1:01:02 One quiet tune 1:09:13 The lamp in the window 1:16:53 Above the orchard Which room at the Copper Dormouse would you have chosen: the one by the window or the one by the fire?
