Have you ever wondered what the difference is between a Geode and an Agate? Watch this video to find out the main differences and wait till the end when I split some open to find out what's inside! You can find geode's and agates in rocks that contain void spaces, typically volcanic extrusive rocks or sedimentary rocks. The minerals grow inside pre-existing void spaces as water passes through the void bringing new elements to grow the minerals. Geode's can be formed from a variety of minerals, where as an agate is specifically formed from a banded variety of chalcedony. Check out the wikipedia pages for more details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geode https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agate In Ontario, the best place to go looking is around Lake Superior and some other famous locations are in the USA Crystal Caves of Ohio or Holley, Oregon or Crow Wing County, Minnesota, Caves of the Crystals in Mexico and Pulpi Geode of Spain. I am sure there are many other places around the world were they can be found too - let us all know in the comments section! Happy searching.
