Mounting camera gear to a Harley-Davidson Tri Glide can be an absolute headache. Because it features an air wing tour pack mount that simply doesn’t accept normal mounting hardware, and because we tour cross-country heavily utilizing a large travel bag strapped to the rack, we can't always rely on conventional options like the ski mount that everybody else runs on standard Harleys. Finding a reliable way to get unique, third-person angles has always been a challenge—until now.
A massive thank you to Insta360 for allowing me to be an affiliate partner, test their gear in the real world, and speak directly about how these products fit touring rigs like the Tri Glide.
I’ve been testing out their Dual Suction Cup Car Mount, and my thoughts? It works absolute wonders. Installation is dead simple: you press down firmly on the heavy-duty rubber cups, pump it up two or three times until the safety indicator white line disappears, and it locks down into a rock-solid grip that won't budge even if you try to pull it off by hand.
I put it to the ultimate test running over 60 mph through the winding mountain roads of the Smoky Mountains, and it performed fantastically. Even while riding through wet weather, water didn’t affect its grip at all—unlike older, traditional suction cup mounts I've used in the past that would slip in the rain. These are superior, heavy-duty mounts that give you total peace of mind on long-distance tours.
