AMC Jeep CJ-7 Hymn

Text and Music by Tom Cover (Copyright 2026) Want a story of the road? Dusty trails fly by Inline-six hums loud Under the desert sky Doors are off tonight Hands on the wheel, alive Four-wheel drive engaged Watch the CJ thrive Rolling down the ridge Canyons deep and wide Nowhere else to go Rugged machine by my side Built of steel and grit On a lonely trail Legacy won't quit Where the others fail Dana axles turn Shaking the quiet night Round headlights cut through With a vintage light Leaf springs take the hit Mud on the iron frame Leaking oil and grease In a wild domain Yeah, rolling down the ridge Canyons deep and wide Nowhere else to go Rugged machine by my side Built of steel and grit On a lonely trail Legacy won't quit Where the others fail Framed by sunset dust Floating wild and free T-18 gearbox shifts Calling out to me Hear the engine cry Just a CJ cry Still rolling, still tough Over country rough Just a CJ cry
