*Namo Buddhaya!*
One of the most common misunderstandings about Buddhism is the statement: *“Life is suffering.”*
But did the Buddha really mean that life is nothing but pain and misery?
The Pali word *Dukkha* has a much deeper meaning. It does not refer only to physical pain or unpleasant experiences. It points to the deeper **unsatisfactory nature of conditioned existence**—the fact that everything we experience is subject to change and cannot provide permanent, complete satisfaction.
We experience happiness, sadness, pleasure, pain and everything in between. Yet all these experiences are **impermanent**.
And when we want what is impermanent to remain permanent, craving (*Tanhā*) arises—and with it, dissatisfaction and suffering.
Understanding Dukkha is therefore not about seeing life as hopeless. It is about seeing life **as it truly is**, with wisdom and clarity.
🪷 In this episode, we explore:
• What “Dukkha” really means
• Why impermanence is central to understanding suffering
• The connection between Dukkha and Tanhā
• Why the Buddha’s teaching is not pessimism
• How understanding Dukkha leads toward the Four Noble Truths
May this reflection help us look at life with greater wisdom, awareness and inner peace.
*May all beings be happy. May all beings be free from suffering.*
