Blyth Energy Central Institute

The old Keel Row site is being redeveloped as the £25 million Energy Central Institute—a higher education, research and training centre focused on clean energy, including offshore energy. Newcastle and Durham universities will help deliver degree and PhD level education there. Building work officially began in October 2026, and it is due to open in late 2027.
