About guest Dr. Ameya Jijo is working as a Senior Clinical Embryologist at FertiClinic Fertilization Centre, Abu Dhabi. She holds a Doctorate and Master’s in Clinical Embryology from Manipal University and has extensive professional experience in Clinical Embryology, Assisted Reproductive Technology and advanced IVF laboratory practice. She has dedicated her professional journey to one of the most delicate and significant stages of reproductive medicine — the journey from an egg and sperm to an embryo and, ultimately, the possibility of parenthood. Her strong focus on both female and male factor infertility and the advanced science behind modern IVF. With a strong interest in AI-driven embryology, embryo selection, implantation prediction, and embryo–endometrium interaction, Dr. Ameya brings together clinical embryology, research and emerging technology with one goal: to make every decision in the IVF laboratory more precise, more personalised, and more evidence-driven. Throughout her career, she has been part of the IVF journey of numerous couples, including those facing severe male-factor infertility, challenging fertility histories and advanced maternal age. For many couples, the journey may begin after years of uncertainty, failed treatments or very limited options. Her work brings together that small hope with science, precision and expertise — helping create a meaningful possibility for parenthood. Dr. Ameya has specialised expertise in several advanced areas of modern IVF, particularly embryo biopsy and fertility preservation. She is experienced in Day 3 and Day 5 embryo biopsy, a highly precise procedure in which a small number of cells are carefully removed from an embryo for genetic analysis while maintaining the embryo's developmental potential. She is also certified in ovarian tissue cryopreservation, an advanced fertility-preservation technique that focuses on preserving ovarian tissue for potential future reproductive use. Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Ameya has developed a strong research interest in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning , embryo metabolism and secretomics in embryology. Her research explores how AI can be combined with embryological and clinical information to support embryo selection and implantation prediction. She has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed scientific publications. Her professional journey brings together advanced embryology, embryo biopsy, fertility preservation, reproductive research and emerging AI technologies. Through her work and public education, Dr. Ameya aims to make the science of IVF understandable to everyone — explaining what really happens to the egg, the sperm and the embryo and helping patients understand the science behind one of the most personal journeys of their lives. And here’s the twist… behind every couple waiting years to hold their baby, there’s someone working silently behind the scenes—turning tiny possibilities into real hope. ❤️ She has been part of countless journeys where a couple’s biggest dream was simply… to become parents. But what exactly happens behind those laboratory doors? How much can modern embryology really change the journey from an egg and sperm to a baby? We’re going to uncover all of that in this podcast. So stay tuned… because this is a story of science, hope, and the person behind some of those life-changing moments.
